Basic licensing course
This course has been designed to introduce technology transfer and licensing concepts and terminology, to give an overview of the common types of licensing agreements, and to provide an understanding of the structure, wording and scope of license agreements. Moreover, it gives an overview of the licensing process, and discusses the Do’s and Don’ts during a negotiating process. By the end of the course, participants will have gained insight into the different types of licensing agreements, and the licensing process. This course can be combined with the Advanced licensing course into a two-day course.

Advanced licensing course
This course is tailored to professionals that have a basic understanding of licensing and who have some working experience in this field. It builds on the foundation provided by the Basic licensing course, and focuses in detail on a number of IP agreement provisions and schedules, as well as the definition and treatment of confidential technical information. By the end of the course, participants will have gained advanced insight into various practical aspects of licensing agreements and processes in commercial environments. This course can be combined with the Basic licensing course into a two-day course.

Patent strategies and portfolio management have become key in today’s corporate world thanks to the ongoing globalization and increasingly aggressive patenting by competitors. Small and medium-sized companies are realizing the increasing importance of patent assets as business tools. For start-up companies in the biotechnology, software and telecommunications fields, a well-defined patent strategy and properly management portfolios have become essential to attract investors. In addition, research institutes and universities are looking for more effective ways of exploiting their intellectual property rights.
By the end of the course, participants will have gained insight into the elements that need to be addressed in managing patent portfolios, and they will have learnt how a patent strategy can be developed that is aligned with business and R&D strategies. |
